Brainspotting is designed to help you process and release the negative emotions surrounding past experiences. It is a gentle, yet powerful tool to reach the unconscious and allow the mind to heal itself.
Pain, when left untreated, creates “capsules” within ourselves which can interfere with our daily functioning, relationship satisfaction, work success, and overall well-being.
Based on the current neuroscientific understanding of how our brain stores memories, Brainspotting has led to a breakthrough in depression treatment.
My training in Brainspotting enables me to help my clients pursue this revolutionary treatment option, even if traditional methods, such as talk therapy, have not succeeded.
What will happen in a Brainspotting session?
At your first session, you will identify the issue you want to treat. Brainspotting can help with a variety of challenges including relationship problems, grief, physical pain, and addiction.
Brainspotting relies on bilateral sounds—recordings which are sent from one ear to another via headphones to facilitate the emotional healing process. During the session, you will be prompted to identify where the symptoms arise. Emotions can surface as headaches, muscle soreness, or stomach pains, and everyone experiences the symptoms differently.
Using a pointer, I will help you determine the Brainspot of the issue you choose. Everyone processes differently; for some people processing is very visual, and other experience verbal sensations, with narratives playing in their mind. After the processing time, we will discuss the experience and determine what insights can be gleaned from the Brainspotting.
Most people feel relief after only one Brainspotting session, although longer-term issues may require more processing time.
